For this part of the book, I think I expected more. I didn't really like the way the book ended but I sort of liked how the students wrote notes for Esme's next 5th grade class. I just felt like there could've been a better ending but I guess there really couldn't be considering it was her life. As for the performance Esme had some students put on, I thought that was cool, also considering she was able to add her ideas she wasn't allowed to use at the Fairytale Carnival. It was a great idea for her to use the shy students.I still don't like Mr. Turner and Ms. Coil because they're flat out rude and didn't record the performance the first time like Esme asked them to. But this was no surprise to me. I feel bad for all the kids in Esme's class that go home and get abused. It seems like it's all of them, which it probably isn't but it just seems that way. Also, I understand Esme's worries for getting hurt from a student of her's that is involved in a gang, but I think it was a little too much to say she thought she was going to get shot. I also felt pretty bad for Melanie because even though she was the one doing something wrong by stealing other peoples' money, it was probably because she honestly needed it and didn't have it. I was glad to hear that Esme's class had the highest scores for the standardized tests because that shows she was doing something right.As for her students' notes at the end of the book, I enjoyed reading them because it showed how much they learned throughout the year in her class which was a lot and it was awesome they remembered so much.
